Using a process known as HVOF, the coating is applied with a special gun resistant to high pressure gases. The powder particles are accelerated by an extremely high speed gases stream (between 5,000 and 6,000 ft/s). They are injected in the flame, protected from the atmosphere and impinged onto a substrate. This combination of high speed gases with molten powder particles strike the substrate in an extremely clean way. Interparticle bonding and sintering reaction provide a dense and uniform coating.
